FILMLAB is a member-supported Los Angeles filmmaking community launching in January 2027, where filmmakers come together to develop projects, test ideas, build skills,
and help move each other’s work toward what’s next.
We’re building that community now.
The idea is simple: the needs of the members generate the work of the community.
An actor needs a scene.
A writer needs to hear pages.
A director needs actors.
A DP needs material to shoot.
An editor needs footage.
A composer needs a sequence to score.
Those aren’t six separate problems. They’re potentially one Saturday.
Pages become table reads. Table reads become workshops.
Workshops become scenes. Scenes become proof-of-concepts.
Every step teaches us something about the project
—and gives the filmmakers involved a chance to do the work.
FILMLAB isn’t about making your film. It’s about helping you get your film made.
Bring in material worth exploring. Screenplays. Scenes. Shorts. Pilots. Ideas. Put it in a room with other filmmakers and see what you have.
Get the work on its feet. Read it. Rehearse it. Shoot it. Cut it. Watch it. Learn from it.
Writers meet actors. Directors work with DPs. Editors discover scenes. Producers solve problems. Everyone gets a chance to practice their craft.
Projects leave the Lab with something they didn’t have when they entered. So do the filmmakers.

FILMLAB is also looking for material worth exploring—not necessarily the most finished screenplay or the biggest idea, but work with a strong voice, compelling characters, and something we might discover by putting it on its feet.

Selected projects may become the starting point for table reads, workshops, rehearsals, filmed scenes and proof-of-concepts—giving the project a chance to develop and the community something real to work on together.
